A scholarship will change your life. While most women think that they can’t possibly qualify for a scholarship there are more than 150,000 scholarships and grants available right now.
We all know that getting the time and the money to go back to school is just impossible once you have a family. With work and all your family responsibilities there is hard enough to make end meet. At times the dream of getting a university qualification seemed like a distant dream to me, but as they say where there is a will, there is a way.
A scholarship is more than just a chance to fulfill a life goal. It means a better life for you and your family. It means a better home, better schools, money to afford a family vacation and above all the financial security that can give you peace of mind.
I quite literally spend weeks online searching for scholarships, grants and financial aid to help me go back to schools and get my education. The simple fact is that there are thousands of scholarships for women. Here are some important things you need to know:
You can apply for more than 1 scholarship or grant
You can apply even if you have bad credit or a poor financial history
You never have to repay a grant
You can get a scholarship or grant regardless of your academic history
You can get a scholarship(s) for your tuition and a grant(s) to cover living expenses
With more than 95,000 scholarships and grants available to women it is almost impossible to know where to start. To add to this, the MOST important part in getting a scholarship is to apply for the right one.
Fortunately I found a terrific online resource called UncleSamsMoney.com. Not only does it make finding the right scholarship easy, but they guide you every step of the way in applying successfully. It will also show you all the various grants that you are eligible for and although they charge $24 to use the service it can save you weeks of mindless online searches.

It’s a fact that people with an education gets further in life. Not only can a degree or diploma give you a financial advantage, but it can most certainly give you job security and the promise of a better life. The desire to get a qualification and to improve life for yourself and your family is the most important step to take even before you start applying for grants or scholarships. No institution or organisation will spend money on you if they doubt your commitment to furthering your education.
There is a lot of grant money available to virtually anyone who wants and needs it, but every organisation or government institution have their own set criteria. As a rule of thumb, the following people are most likely to get a scholarship.
- Women looking for scholarships in certain fields.
In certain fields there are an immense shortage of women. The construction industry is but one example and some organisations will give women preference just to help fill these shortcomings.
- Low income and/or disadvantaged students.
If you fall into a low income bracket and haven’t got the financial resources available to you, then you can qualify for a grant on that basis. The government’s commitment to education says that no one should be denied an education based on their income or financial inabilities. In the end your education will become an asset to the government and that’s one of the main reasons why they are keen on giving out scholarships to willing and able students.
- High School Students and Undergraduates.
If you have the academic ability, but you don’t have the financial ability then you can qualify for a scholarship. Far too many gifted students fall through the system simply because they don’t have the financial resources to see themselves through college. These are some of the easiest scholarships to get simply because you can prove your academic ability.
- Exceptional Talent.
These are grants with a difference, but in some cases they are the most generous. Sports scholarships is well known and unfortunately they do not encourage much academic excellence. At least they will get you to college and even if you are on a full sports scholarship you can still excel academically since you are required to keep your grades up. There are also scholarships available to students with musical or artistic talent.
- Reformed Students.
If you were a high school drop-out or even if you were a college drop-out there are programs that can help you get back on track. Successfully applying for a scholarship will depend on your particular circumstances. Proving that you are serious about resuming your education is vital to be successful with your grant application.
